The Wikimedia movement is considered to be the largest digital community in the world, whose voluntary members pursue the goal of giving all people free access to knowledge. The Wikimedia Foundation supports not only the work on Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata but also smaller projects, which are supposed to encourage people to contribute knowledge themselves. The promotion of free education is a political task, which is why Wikimedia primarily promotes networking between committed people, institutions and political actors.
