350.org is looking for a brilliant and skilled digital marketing and analytics expert that will focus on supporter growth and retention in Europe. This is a full-time role, which can be done remotely from one of several countries in Europe with the option to work in person with colleagues in Berlin, Paris, Amsterdam or London.

About the Senior Digital Engagement Specialist 

Supporters play a key role in our fight for climate justice. Over the years 350 has built a dedicated community of people who engage with campaigns in Europe by taking digital actions, amplifying 350 campaigns on social media, donating or even becoming key organisers in our network.

350 in Europe has a small digital team that is well versed in digital mobilisation and online organising. We currently work with consultants on supporter acquisition, largely through paid social media ads. However, we feel it is essential now to have a full time specialist who is embedded in our highly collaborative team of climate campaigners, organisers and communications experts, who can help us significantly broaden our supporter base using multiple channels and tactics while monitoring and optimising supporter engagement and retention. 

The main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Lead digital supporter acquisition in priority European countries (UK, Germany and France) together with country teams. Primarily through paid social media ads but also organic posts on existing and new social media channels. This will include both strategy development and digital content creation (images and video).
    • Create and manage highly effective ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram for UK, Germany and France – making data-driven optimisations to paid media campaigns, with a consistent focus on testing new approaches. 
    • Explore other new promising digital acquisition channels and methods that can bring in new supporters. 
    • Support country teams to develop, test and optimise onboarding sequences (emails) for maximum supporter engagement and retention. 
  • Lead digital analytics: maintain and develop a monitoring and reporting framework on key growth and engagement metrics and support country teams with goal setting, tracking, evaluating and improving on these.
  • Research digital marketing trends relevant to the nonprofit sector and propose tests and optimisations for supporter growth, engagement and retention – implementing these together with country teams. 

Required skills, experience and traits:

  • At least 2 years experience leading digital marketing/ supporter acquisition, especially managing paid ads along with developing social media strategies across multiple platforms.
  • Experience with campaigns or communications in support of movement-building activities around environmental or social justice.
  • Seasoned data analyst. You love looking at data, spotting trends, seeing how people react and seek to understand and attract target audiences.
  • Video editing and graphic design skills for social media/ ads content.
  • Highly collaborative team player who is happy working in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities and competing deadlines via slack, conference calls, and other online tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in English and either French or German. Ability to write for a variety of audiences and platforms
  • Demonstrated passion for 350.org’s vision, mission, and progressive values. 

Desired (but not required) skills and experience 

  • Working knowledge of the current global debate on climate justice and climate solutions with a strong interest in working on these issues.
  • Experience with digital mobilisation and publishing tools such as Action Kit, New Mode, Canva and WordPress. 

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working remotely, both independently & on teams, and who is  highly responsive, able to lead initiatives while also taking direction from others.

Location: Remote within Europe within the countries 350.org currently operates. Current countries are: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Position type: Full-time employment contract (with flexibility of 80% working hours for the right candidate).

Start date: As soon as possible at the start of 2023 (flexible)

Compensation: Level 2.1 - Belgium €57,799; France €57,259; Germany €54,318; Italy €50,776; Netherlands €58,459; Poland zł 137,361; Spain €47,956; Sweden kr 555,575; United Kingdom £52,000
