In this key role, you will hold responsibility for developing donor cultivation, stewardship plans, and pursuing new opportunities to grow unrestricted income and funding for our Germany office. This will involve leading on our German fundraising strategy, meeting budgetary targets, and working closely with colleagues from our Germany office, relevant board members, and our wider global team.

to join our growing development team and play a leading role in securing income for individuals, trusts, foundations and other supporters in Germany.

In this role, you will be managed by our Global Director of Development, Stefanie Pfeil. Stefanie joined our London office in April 2018. Originally from Germany, Stefanie has worked in senior fundraising and communications roles in the NGO sector since 2006. She holds a Master’s degree in Arts Management and a BA in Business Studies.

Main Duties

  • Establishing our German fundraising programme, including setting appropriate targets and identifying suitable funding sources.
  • Direct fundraising, including developing our German donor pipeline and building and managing a personal portfolio of major donor prospects
  • Strategy, including helping to develop and implement a Germany-specific and wider global team strategy
  • Systems and processes, including use of our funder database system to generate timely and accurate reports for colleagues.

Role requirements

  • Significant and demonstrable experience of working in a fundraising role for a charity, NGO, private or public entity
  • Significant experience of drafting proposals for trusts, foundations and/or statutory institutions and securing multi-year, six and seven-figure grants
  • Significant experience of fundraising in the German market
  • Experience of individual giving and online fundraising (desirable)
  • Fluent (CEFR level C2) in German (essential)
  • Fluent (CEFR level C2) in English (essential)

Anforderungen an die Rolle

  • Erhebliche und nachweisbare Erfahrung in der Mittelbeschaffung für eine Wohltätigkeitsorganisation, NGO, private oder öffentliche Einrichtung
  • Erhebliche Erfahrung in der Ausarbeitung von Anträgen für Trusts, Stiftungen und/oder gesetzliche Institutionen
  • Signifikante Erfahrung im Fundraising auf dem deutschen Markt
  • Erfahrung mit Einzelspenden und Online-Fundraising (wünschenswert)
  • Fließend (CEFR Level C2) in Deutsch (unbedingt erforderlich)
  • Fließend (CEFR Level C2) in Englisch (unbedingt erforderlich)
