What is a Hackathon?

A Hackathon is an immersive event in which people step out of their comfort zone, working by themselves or with others, to break down a problem. Hackathons come in all shapes and sizes. They're really popular in the gaming/tech community. They're excellent learning experiences, and help walk you through the processes that come alongside solving problems.

What is UNITE 2030?

On the 7th and 8th of April, 2018, Worldchangers from around the globe will virtually convene for a 48-hour Hackathon competition. Worldchangers will be split up into teams of 4-5 based on the social issues that they're passionate about. Teams will then be presented with a global challenge that they must solve within the presented time frame. Throughout the 48 hours, Worldchangers will watch workshops hosted by world-class experts, work closely with their team to quickly, and diligently address the challenge, Teams will then present their solutions within the framework that we provide. Judges will select finalists, and then winners, who will take home the title of UNITE 2030 Global Champions 2018.

What are the "Critical International Challenges" that we'll be hacking?

IDHouse defines "Critical International Challenges" as the biggest challenges facing our word today. The United Nations set out a list of 17 Sustainable Development Goals" that they want to reach by the year 2030. We've selected 6 of these SDGs that we'll be hacking at UNITE 2030.

Those SDGs are:

SDG 1: No Poverty
SDG 2: Zero Hunger
SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being
SDG 4: Quality Education
SDG 5: Gender Equality
SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities

That brings us to.... What is the theme for UNITE 2030?

The theme for this years UNITE 2030 is Uniting Youth for Equality.
