The Schering Stiftung presents the latest video installation of the Berlin-based conceptual artist Philipp Lachenmann: DELPHI Rationale.
The video work DELPHI Rationale is the most elaborate film production to date by the artist Philipp Lachenmann from Berlin. Filmed at the DELPHI particle detector in CERN Geneva, the video’s powerful color images and sounds capture an Indian sarod player with the detector as a “backdrop.” Employing the color spectrum of three masterpieces of Technicolor film and set to machine-made and Indian sounds, Lachenmann’s work explores the aesthetics of the intersection where technology, mysticism, and the history of culture and science meet.
