Your Role & Tasks

As a Communications Coordinator (m/f/d), you will be part of YSB's mission to harness the power of business to end poverty and the climate crisis. We have spent the last decade supporting inspiring social businesses, entrepreneurs and corporate changemakers. You will tell their stories, turn our ideas into movements and create an activist brand that inspires people to use their business skills for a sustainable future for us all.

Your tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • BRAND You will support the development and implementation of the brand strategy alongside the Director of Brand and Communications and the wider team. Through that, you will help us excite more and more entrepreneurs, stakeholders and corporations about the idea of social business as a force for good.
  • STORYTELLING and COPYEDITING Through your creativity and drive, you will curate and develop content for our Website, Blog, Social Media and Newsletters and take responsibility for the development and management of these channels to monitor performance and maximise potential. You are not afraid to share a crazy idea and have the self-motivation to bring that idea to life. Other related tasks include: copy-writing, pitch story ideas, support editorial planning, production of marketing materials and key publications such as our annual reports, blog posts, and in-depth research series Business As Unusual.
  • PROJECT AND CONTENT MANAGEMENT: To ensure the freshest content reaches our audience you will coordinate website upgrades with stakeholders, developers and designers, update blog content, coordinate channel reports.
  • GLOBAL COORDINATION One of our most exciting assets is an inspired, diverse and highly motivated team. You will work closely with YSB’s teams in various countries to develop global brand and communications initiatives. 
  • PRESS & MEDIA RELATIONS SUPPORT We have plenty of stories to tell. You will proactively develop and pitch story ideas and have a clear grasp of the media landscape and follow the news cycle. You’ll support our PR team in increasing our reach across media, leverage key multipliers, and important sector influencers and organisations. Bonus but not essential, if you have experience in the DACH region and can communicate fluently in German.
  • PARTNERSHIPS & EVENTS We are big on inspiring others to take action through exciting events and partnership experiences that showcase examples for change. You will organise and promote digital and real world events that support our communications targets. You will coordinate with our dynamic partner network, including organisations like BCG, IKEA Foundation, Skoll World Forum, World Economic Forum, Covid Alliance for Social Entrepreneurs to bring these events to life and run flawlessly. 
  • PERFORMANCE MARKETING We are a social business leader, which means we take care of our own sustainability. Therefore to support this, you know the basics of performance and can implement paid social campaigns that create results.

What you bring to the table

  • You have previously worked in brand and communications within a fast growing, ideally international setting – including PR, social media, and content development activities;
  • You understand the challenges and opportunities of a global brand icon like Prof. Yunus combined with a young and evolving organisation like YSB and the necessary strategies to further amplify its reach;
  • You are a digital native with a firm grasp of all relevant communication channels, with experience in Social Media (especially LinkedIn), Email Newsletters, SEO, Paid Ads;
  • You are a self-starter with top-notch writing, storytelling and communications skills (ideally journalistic, screenwriting background), can manage projects independently without a lot of guidance, and are able to manage several projects at the same time under time pressure;
  • You are passionate about and immersed in relevant topics, developments and conversations in the field of social entrepreneurship, impact and innovation;
  • You are fluent and proficient in spoken and written English (a must) and German (strongly preferred) and have an engaging writing style and expert copy-editing skills;
  • Applications will be particularly welcome from those who have design experience creating and editing cross-channel assets, including photo and video, using editing software such as Canva, Photoshop, Premiere Pro or others;
  • Residency in and valid work permit for Germany (must).
